ALL THE BREAKING NEWS FROM NENUPHAR

18th April 2008 : FANTASTIC NEWS, FIRST 60LB+ CARP AT NENUPHAR, SEE DIARY.

FEBRUARY 2008 : Well I hope everyone got their December issue of Carpworld. It was a great article, very honest and a pretty accurate account of a weeks fishing at Nenuphar. It seems a lot of people were fairly impressed as our bookings have gone through the roof and there are now very few places left for 2008. This of course means that we have a lot of new customers for the coming year, which is great, but there is a downside which is that we have already had to turn down a few regulars who have just left it too late to book. Those wishing to book for 2009 please do so in good time to avoid disappointment.

IMPORTANT BAIT NEWS : FOR THE COMING SEASON WE WILL BE OFFERING MAINLINE BAIT. We have stocked other baits in the past and all have been very good but there is no getting away from the fact that 90% of our customers want Mainline bait and you cannot blame them with the results it has produced here. We will be stocking PULSE, FUSION and ACTIV-8, which will be available at a very competitive £23-00per 2.5kilo bag (this is about £9-00 per kilo and we just cannot do it any cheaper), we are keeping a good stock but pre-ordering may be advisable. We are also stocking rock hard matching pop-ups.

Results during the 2007 season were again fantastic with around fifty 40lb+ fish banked. Though some of these were repeat captures we have now  certainly identified 28 different fish in this bracket, quite impressive in a lake of only 9 acres, especially when you consider there were only 12 this size the year before!! Despite the wet weather we have also managed to progress quite a way with the new lake and we are very close to getting it open for later this year, though this will probably only be a test period now. After a re-design so that several anglers can fish together from two central islands Terry has done a great job and shifted an awful lot of earth leaving some nice features out in the lake. We really like the look of this new lake now and we reckon it will be very popular amongst those looking for a good social but still having maximum fishing options.

From e-mails I have been receiving I know virtually all of you enjoyed last year. Bookings are going very well for 2008 and we strongly advise those wishing to fish in April, May, June and September next year  to GET IN EARLY!!  Terry, Maxine and I would like to say thanks to all the anglers who are supporting us again this year, we wish you all the best of luck and look forward to seeing you. Many have commented that they have enjoyed a friendly, comfortable and above all peaceful weeks fishing on an undoubtedly very pretty lake, though the evening frog chorus has certainly sent at least one angler stark staring mad!! Our pristine toilets and always hot showers have also drawn comment as has the excellent quality of our food and general service. We are all looking forward to the season ahead and are also pleased to welcome back our bailiff Lloyd Hills who is very experienced at managing a fishery in France.

Below is some genuine feedback from anglers who have visited Waterlily Lakes.

"Just to say thanks for a great trip to Waterlily last week. Fantastic lakes and great carp. Breakfasts can`t be faulted and I believe they`re gaining a reputation on the forums!!! Hendrix trying to get in the bag at 2-30 in the morning! Coypus in the bivvy eating the French cheese, the bloody frogs-catfish need to be trained to eat the f*#!%ers, but hey that`s fishing. Once I`ve got the lads together again I`ll be in touch to book for next year, or maybe this autumn if there`s anything left, cheers " Richard Webb. Waterlily lakes would like to point out that many anglers find the evening frog chorus quite relaxing!!.

" Just a quick note to say thanks for the weeks fishing at Waterlily. We had a great time and some good fish too. Well done on creating such a great place in France to fish unlike the normal "hole in the ground" type fishery you see in France, " Mick Wells. This e-mail came from the angler who Carp Talk recently overlooked when they said 3 50`s in a day had only been done twice, they printed an apology a week later, our point being that here is a very good angler who has fished all over, has been very complimentary about our lakes (thanks Mick), and has already booked his return, NUFF SAID!!

"Thanks for an excellant week and see you next year" Julian Barber, JJ.

"After a 2.5 hour drive from the channel tunnel we arrived at the lake about 10am. We`d been driving since 10pm the previous night so the breakfast baguette and cup of tea went down a treat. After the needed pit stop we all took a walk around the lake. There was a slight drizzle going on but that didn`t stop us spending a good 15 mins in each swim eyeing things up. After chatting with the bailiff we all decided to split up and fish different parts of the lake to see where the fish were. We had booked the lake exclusively, so had the choice of all swims.  Having been twice before me and Kaz knew what to expect, but Ben and Barrie were both amazed with the layout of the lake. There were just so many bays, islands, lily pads and overhanging trees to choose from-and that was just the1st swim!!! I`d gone for the island swim as quite a few of our previous captures had come from there. After the 12 hour drive I felt like diving straight into my bivvy for 40 winks but I just couldn`t keep my eyes off the water. Just under 30yds away there are two islands, both looked very tempting but the left hand island just seemed to be alive. There was a strong wind blowing down into the top bay creating lots of slack areas behind the islands, I catapulted a dozen boilies out to the areas and instantly noticed bubbles and swirls, so had to get a rod out there!! I quickly tied a rig-6" Suffix Camo, size 4 Kamasan B775 hook, with a simple knotless knot with a long hair for double baits (always worked well here before). Within an hour I had a fish on the bank, a very pretty 36lb mirror. My P.B was a 31.9lb mirror before so I was on cloud nine. After taking some pics and a few beers I recast the same single rod out, with the same rig, hoping for a good nights sleep!!! About 4am`ish I woke to my bite alarm giving it all it could, my baitrunner clutch was tight, as I was fishing close to the island with some lilies not too far away, so I knew this was a powerful fish to be peeling line like it was. The fish played me for 30-40 minutes taking me in full arcs to both sets of lilies.....arghhhh. After cursing and shouting for another 10 minutes I had the fish in the net. It had just kept firmly to the lakebed while I played it so I had not seen the fish properly yet, I quickly got my head torch and shone it into the net...."wow a biggie!!" I thought she must be over 36lb so got my sling wet and zeroed the scales properly, ready for another new P.B. I removed the hook while she was still in the net in the water, got the rod out of the way and began to heave her to the mat. The Reubens went round to 42lb!!!!! Ben wasn`t too far away and heard my screams, so woke up to take the pictures, cheers Ben. I think maybe the fish was ready to spawn as it had the biggest, fattest belly.    Over the next six days I had another 13 fish, including a 30.11lb and 24.7lb brace, which was also my first brace. My average weight for the week was 28.8lb which was nearly the weight of my previous P.B!!!!    Barrie bagged up that week, he had 43 fish up to 39lb. He was on Johns Point for the first half of the holiday and caught most of them from there, mid 20lb`ers. Ben and Kaz both had around 15 fish each up to 39lb. We all broke some kind of P.B more than once and all agreed we had the best weeks fishing for a long long time" Chris Ridley. This piece came from a guy we affectionately know as "The Big Fella", returning for his third visit to Nenuphar, top bloke, top angler, cheers Chris, see you again soon.
